My Pointy Stick split. Any way to repair it or should I just start all over?
I referred this one to an expert - Dr. Bob (Phil's less famous older brother)
Here's his response to your questions:
Let me break this one down.
My Pointy Stick split.
If you'd treated it better, maybe bring home flowers once in a while, said things like "Did you lose some weight? You're looking downright slender.", taken your Pointy Stick away for a weekend in The Wine Country ...?
Any way to repair it?
Did you try emoluents, moisturizers, the full line of Rockler's "Precious Pointy Stick Pampering" products? Did you try scented oils? Does your Pointy Stick have pearls or diamonds yet? Did you treat your Pointy Stick with respect and tenderness?
If the answers are all yes, then I'm afraid anything else you try will only make things worse.
Are you willing to make significant, and perhaps painful, changes in your life?
If the answer is "YES!"
- YOU'RE AN IDIOT!
IT'S JUST A STICK
- WITH A POINT ON ONE END!
Get out of the shop and expand your horizons a bit. Take a yodeling class, try watercolors, go buy a Vette or maybe even one of them BMW sports cars, do some traveling, visit the Stickley Museum, plant a tree or two.
Should I just start all over?
WAKE UP! IT'S OVER! MOVE ON!
The world's full of lumber yards. Go check out all the beautiful woods out there just waiting to be Pointy Sticks. Your future is waiting for you. The longest journey is begun with a single step. It's always darkest before the dawn. Keep your chin up and your head held high - unless you're a boxer, in which case it's better to keep your chin down and your hands up - close to your face, elbows in to protect your solar plexus. Count your blessings - in metric. Go tool shopping - that'll make you feel better. This too will pass. To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season, turn, turn, turn . . .
